MACHINE QUILTING SERVICES

Mr. Quilt offers heirloom machine quilting on a very limited basis.

Each quilt top is treated as an individual work of art.   All quilting will be evaluated and done in a manner that will accentuate the piecing of the individual quilt.  In most cases -- this will entail a lot of stitch-in-the-ditch or outline quilting.  This is, in my opinion, the best way to make the pieced design stand out.  Some other quilters will, for example, stitch a design over a star block.  I will not do this.  My approach is to stitch-in-the-ditch around the star pieces and then perhaps put a small stitched motif in the center of the block.   Fancy stitching is reserved for open blocks and borders to help accentuate the pieced designs.
The customer is always consulted for design ideas and input before any stitching is begun.

To my credit, I have machine quilted for professionals such as Pat Campbell, Sally Collins, Sharyn Craig, Paula Nadelstern, Robert Kaufman and many others.  My work has been featured in many books and magazines. It has also been shown on "Simply Quilts" and "The Quilt Show" starring Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.

This type of quilting is extremely time consuming and very tedious, but I am striving to be one of the best in the business.  I encourage you to review the quilting exhibited throughout this website and in my books, "design Art Deco quilts" and "free-motion Machine Quilting."

My current rate for machine quilting is $.07 per square inch.  This price includes thread; however, not batting. Any shipping charges are extra.  Sales tax for California residents is additional to the price quoted.
